THE MEANING BEHIND POINSETTIAS
Poinsettias are often associated with Christmas and are also known as the Christmas Star or Christmas Flower. A Mexican legend says that a poor little girl didn’t have a gift to take to church on Christmas Eve, so she gathered weeds from the roadside and placed them at the altar. The congregation witnessed a miracle when the weeds turned into brilliant red and green flowers.
The star-shaped leaf pattern is said to symbolize the Star of Bethlehem. The blooms come in red, white, and pink varieties. They are supposed to bring good cheer and success, as well.
WRITE A FRIEND MONTH
Did you know December is Write a Friend Month? It’s the perfect time to reach out and tell people how much they mean to you. You can do this in a variety of ways. You can handwrite a letter or send a special note in a card. Or, you could send a festive flower arrangement with a personal note! No matter what you choose to do, it’s always fun to get surprises in the mail.
